5 Things to do in Osaka
Hi everyone! I’m Outtara, my husband and I run Rumbling Chopsticks, a travel blog sharing tips, guides and inspiration for maximizing your short vacation time. Osaka is one of our favorite cities in Japan, in fact, we travel there at least once a year since we love it so much. Here are our top 5 things to do while visiting Osaka during your next trip!
5-Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan
Now I know what you’re thinking, an aquarium as a top 5 thing to do in Osaka? Really?
Yes, really! What makes the Kaiyukan aquarium in Osaka so great, is that is one of the largest aquariums in the world. With over 25+ tanks featuring fishes from all types, it gives the feeling that you’re under the sea with the fishes. And did I mention you can see a whale shark, one of the largest fishes in the sea without having to go diving to see it!
4-Universal Studios Japan
If you’re a fan of theme parks, then go down to Universal Studios Japan. They have some of our favorite rides that can be found in Orlando like the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, Hollywood dream roller coaster and a few special rides only found at Universal Studios Japan. All the rides are in Japanese, but that doesn’t take away from the fun!
Shop until you drop at Shinsaibashi Shopping Arcade. Shinsaibashi is Osaka’s premier shopping center where you can find budget-friendly shops to high-end brands like Gucci and Dior. There isn’t a shortage of shops to grab a light snack from all the shopping you would be doing, like Pablo, which is one of my favorite pastry shops.
If you’re looking for a place to grab some delicious food and entertainment, then look no further. Dotonbori is one of Osaka’s most popular destinations, the street can be compared to a smaller version of time-square in New York. At night it’s lit by hundreds of neon lights and many street vendors, making it the place to hang out at night with its lively atmosphere.
A visit to Osaka isn’t complete without seeing the Osaka Castle and its park. During spring the cherry blossom really brings the castle ground to life. I recommend a visit to the inside of the Osaka Castle, they have a nice museum about the castle’s history and also the view from the top observatory are some of the best views of Osaka. It’s simply breathtaking.
