Travel Stories Week 33

What's your favourite place you have visited?

I've spent the last year in South America, and when people ask me about my favourite place here, it's definitely Brazil, with Peru right on the second place. Brazil has amazing people and food, we made so many great friends there. Peru, on the other hand, has breathtaking nature and the hikes there are unforgettable!

In my heart though, there is one country, which no other has beaten yet, and that's the country I decided to live in and can't wait to come back there – Slovenia. With amazing people, beautiful nature including mountains as well as the seaside, old cities and everything the modern world has to offer, it truly is my paradise.

What’s the best thing you have seen while travelling?

More than things I count the unforgettable moments we've been through on the journey. A snowstorm while hiking a 6000 m Huayna Potosi in Bolivia, exploring huge fossils in a recently discovered desert canyon in Peru, surfing for the first time in Brazil, sledging down an active volcano in Chile or visiting the hidden caves in an Argentinian desert.

What’s your best travel story?

I always like to tell the story how we went hiking the popular El Choro trek near La Paz in Bolivia, where local men stopped us after a demanding climb to the highest point and prohibited us to continue because of a fallen bridge which was dangerous to cross. Instead, they have recommended us another hike nearby, which though led through a jungle and it was raining there night and day – we had to spend a night there, in the middle of nothing, cut some greenery to make place for tents and cook the dinner on our gas cooker in the 15 minute window when it wasn't raining. This is something I definitely wouldn't do again, but at the same time, it's an amazing story.

Tell us about your Blog

I've started writing my blog when I've decided to quit my job and travel the world with my partner last year. Our professions made it easy in the digital world – he is a web developer and I am a copywriter with experiences in content marketing and online sales. We both love mountains, so the blog is mostly full of hiking stories, though we’ve happily spent some time on the famous Brazilian beaches. Now we are heading to Patagonia to finish this year-long trip in the hiking paradise.
