Travel Stories Week 61
What's your favourite place you have visited?
If I had a dollar for every time I was asked what was the favourite place I have ever visited - I’d be rich, but I guess that's to be expected when people learn that you’re a travel blogger/vlogger. So let me preface my answer by saying that at 30 countries and counting, I don’t have a favourite place. Because every city I ever visited has its good and it’s bad so my gut takes me home to Toronto. The city I was born in and live in and miss when I’m away too long.
That being said I really love Amsterdam with its bikes, canals, Heineken, red-light district and “coffee shops” that lead to its overall chilled out vibe.
As for countries, you really can’t go wrong with Italy. So far it's the one country that I’ve visited the most cities, towns and villages in and it never stops amazing me - No two places are exactly the same but every place has history, food, traditions, people, culture etc...
What’s the best thing you have seen while travelling?
I’ve been blessed to be able to see so many incredible things on my travels that I’m addicted to new experiences, trying new foods, learning new traditions, cultures and meeting new people. All that said one of the best things I’ve seen while travelling is the probably The Running Of The Bulls in Pamplona, Spain.
Now I know a lot of animal activists and vegans will hate me but the sense of power, sheer rush of adrenaline and excitement that took only a few seconds to pass by is forever burned in my memory.
Plus I filmed it and made and made an awesome YouTube video ;)
What’s your best travel story?
The best travel story is one from the island of Gozo during my 3 Days In Malta
After a day of exploring this incredible place, I had one more place to visit. The Azure Window. It was used as the backdrop for the famous Game of Thrones wedding scenes between Daenerys Targaryen and Khal Drogo
However, it was getting closer to evening and I not only had to take a ferry to go back to the main island, but I also needed to catch a cab across the island back to Malta’s capital, Valletta.
I almost decided not to see it but at the last second, I changed my mind and took the bus out to the Azure Window. Good thing I did! About six months later the Azure Window collapsed and was lost to the sea.
Not only did I end up with spectacular drone video/photos that are absolutely priceless! I have amazing memories that are worth even more. The moral of the story is to see as much of this beautiful earth as you can - what is here today may be gone tomorrow.
